Veterinarians are trained to be doctors: we don’t have any business backgrounds. Some of us end up buying practices or trying to run a business with no experience, and this can be really stressful. 

We had almost doubled our size, and I needed to act and think more like a CEO. What is that like? I had no clue. So I brought Bob on. 

Bob has a high business acumen. He tightened some of the controls and offered some soft Six Sigma techniques. When he came through with 6 Sigma, he made a lot of recommendations. So many ideas spawned out of this.He was able to help me focus, materialize my plan and where I want to be in 10-15 years, and pass on this message to the team and clients. We focused on Operational Excellence—including outpatient flow to greatly improve patient wait times, and tightening up our inventory.
